Countless students miss out on university due to a lack of funding, facing bleak futures without sponsorship. Meet Ibrahim Ndumba, a student who fought against financial ruin until ZCNBG stepped in to secure his exams, ultimately keeping his educational dreams alive against all odds.
Most students are not eligible for university bursaries and this causes a lot of them to miss out on university all together. This means that families have to find alternative sources for university sponsorship. This is often difficult and there is no guarantee that the family will sustain the payments once they begin sponsoring. Such students end up dropping out of university studies and face a bleak future.
One such student was Ibrahim Ndumba. With successive rejections for a bursary, he won a betting ticket that enabled him to register and complete the registration and enrolment. Once his arrears kicked in, and he was forced to beg from well wishers on the street where he raised a modest amount. Ibrahim was brought to the attention of ZCNBG who took over his sponsorship of the remaining balance for the first year and a downpayment for the second year. He risked being stopped from writing exams without full payment which ZNCBG stepped in and provided support. He kept fighting until he eventually was accorded a full government scholarship. Ibrahim is sure that if ZCNBG did not support him he would not be in university today.
